HYDE HEATH THEATRE COMPANY
Annie Hamilton-Pike has accepted their kind
invitation to direct the October Production entitled “The Art of Course
Acting”. This consists of two dreadful plays called “STREUTH! and
“A COLLIERS TUESDAY TEA” . Both of them are epic pieces of
distastrous proportions which simply extract ‘the michael’ from your
typical Am-Dram group.
Men are always in short supply and Annie is
looking for 3 ‘actors to fill some stupendous parts in “A Colliers Tuesday
Tea”. This is a tale of realistic
working-class drama, based on the work of D.H.Lawrence, set
somewhere north of the Watford Gap , in a dreary miners cottage.
Age: Immaterial. Experience: much the same but
pretty essential.

ALERT FRAUD
The Police continue to work
on your behalf with regular updates on burglary, vandalism and Scam Phone
Calls. Courier Fraudsters phone and trick victims into handing over large
sums of cash to a courier that arrives at their home.
Never deal with cold callers on
the phone or in person, no matter how polite and friendly they are. Saying
“No thank you” and shutting the door or hanging up the phone is not rude.
Phones with a “blocking

July 21st
We moaned about the wet and cold
weather throughout April, May and June . We are now in the throws of a
mini-heat wave which leaves everyone tired , drained and unable to sleep.
No wonder it is permanently top of the conversation list.
Windows and doors are opened to
catch any fleeting breeze and this also lets out loud music and raised
voices . Please give some consideration to neighbours , Mum’s with babies
and Senior residents. No-one wants to spoil anyone’s pleasure and there is
nothing more enjoyable than hearing children play -
but - PLEASE -
moderation in all things.
BROWNIES
The Brownies have had a busy
summer term of outdoor activities despite a lot of miserable weather. They
have enjoyed a trip to Hervines Park in Amersham, activities on the Common
and games on the school playing field.
The annual “water games” evening was held on the penultimate week
of term. Despite being a cool evening, fun was had playing lots of games
involving water and ended with a water fight in which there are no winners
or losers, just lots of wet Brownies and Leaders !
At the last meeting of term ,
there were sad goodbyes to six of the Brownies who have turned 10yrs old
and also to one of their helpers, Anna, who is off to university in the
Autumn. The first meeting of
the Autumn Term will be on 12th September.
If there are any girls aged 7 + who would like to join Brownies

POST FETE
A very big THANK YOU
from the FETE COMMITTEE to everyone who helped to make last
Saturday’s event so successful. The whole of the Common was buzzing with
activities and there was possibly the largest attendance of visitors to
date.
We, as a Village should take
this opportunity to thank David Coulton and his committee for their
committed hard work and dedication which doesn’t just span a few short
weeks prior to the Fete. Once all the groups and Village Hall who benefit
from the financial aspect of the Fete receive their donations,
preparations will start again for next years Fete.

INCONSIDERATE
PARKING
Brays Lane is becoming a
veritable nightmare every morning with vehicles being parked mainly on the
pathway or opposite each
other, thus preventing larger
delivery vehicles to access the Village and particularly the Shop on a
Tuesday morning. There is adequate parking , it just means a few extra
steps are needed to get to the Village Hall and a lot more thought.

VILLAGE SHOP
The AGM will take place on Wednesday 4th May at
8pm in the Village Hall. All are welcome but only members will be
entitled to vote to elect a Management Committee. This is an opportunity
to see and hear how hard the people work “behind the scenes” and the
problems they face to keep our shop a thriving and important village
facility.
BROWNIES
Over the weekend during the school holidays ,
some of the Hyde Heath Brownies went on a pack holiday to Elstree.
Fortunately they were lucky with the weather and enjoyed lots of different
activities . Particular highlights were a campfire and night time walk
with a great view of the lights of London including Wembley Stadium and
The Shard. For the first meeting of the new term they enjoyed
a visit to the Amersham Waste Depot where they were able to see the Bucks
CC new gritter lorry . Two of the Brownies collaborated to win a
competition to name the new lorry, which is to be called “Snowflake”
There are currently vacancies . Contact Shanta Gillot at

THAMES VALLEY ALERT
Now is the time that HMRC are contacting people
in regards to Tax Rebate. Fraudsters have picked up on this and are
texting members of the public offering a tax rebate. The text message
contains a link to a website to provide personal information such as bank
account details to claim non-existent rebates. I myself have been the
recipient of e-mails pertaining to this and had the sense to delete them
and not open them. HMRC will never use texts or e-mails or tell you about
a potential rebate or ask for personal information.

I am sure you have all noticed the activity on

OBITUARY
AND TRIBUTE
Dave Bevan, Jo and Kirsty are
very sad to inform you that Val, their lovely wife and mum, passed away on
Monday 11th April following a stroke.
We cannot express our sadness at
this devastating loss, but we know it is shared by so many who loved her
too.
She will be deeply missed by all
her family, friends and those whose lives she touched, with her commitment
to charity and to improving the lives of others.
A service is being held to
celebrate Val’s life on Thursday 28th April at 1pm in the
Milton Chapel at Amersham Crematorium, Whielden Lane, HP7 OND and
afterwards in Hyde Heath Village Hall.
Val loved bright colours and had
wanted her family and friends to wear something bright to the service.
We are asking for family flowers
only, but Val was passionate about supporting the Pepper Foundation, and
if anyone wishes to make a donation in her memory, this can be done at
www.pepper.org.uk
We would like to thank everyone
for their kind words and support at this difficult time.

AWAKIN’ UP THE WATER IN THE BAY”
Appropriate lyrics from Rogers

Weekend weather
The Hyde End Craft Fair was
curtailed due to the weather – especially the mud causing vehicles to
become stuck in the parking areas. Also affected
was The Thame Show.
Fortunately I went to the Craft
Fair on Good Friday and was well worth the visit.
The Food Fair at Gt Missenden
was probably most affected being on a hill and mud carried out on to the

VILLAGE
SHOP
Everyone in the Village
should have received a notification regarding the forthcoming vacancy in
the Shop . Which is
imminent this
month.
In 2001 – 15yrs ago we were
close to losing this vital Village commodity. A plea went round the
Village to save it and the residents pledged £200 per household which
entitled them to shares and thus saved one of the very few remaining
Village stores in the country.
From a temporary container positioned between the School and the Church
our Shop and its’ staff
courageously carried on with massive support and spearheaded by a very
dedicated committee and a legacy left to the Village Hall by one of our
residents , enough funds were available to extend the Village Hall and
accommodate a permanent site.
Over the ensuing years a back
bone of staff have stoically
kept the shop alive through all weathers , giving their time
- some of them on a voluntary basis – sourcing new lines of
products, travelling to Cash
and Carry, Shelf Filling , Stock taking and more importantly , noticing
when regulars do not turn up for their orders and alert neighbours to this
situation.
This Shop is the Village
Life-Line and we are now in a
situation where , through a possible lack of staff – we could
face the same situation we were in 15yrs ago. In other words we
could have come “Full Circle”.
All that is required are extra Sales Assistants to
cover shifts on a Friday afternoons 1pm – 5pm,
Saturday mornings from 7am – 9am and Sunday mornings 9am – 12 noon.
These paid positions could be shared – full training will be given.
If you are 18 or over , male or
